The story written by a grandfather and his granddaughter that shows everything we have to learn from our elders 2026

We have talked about the benefits of reading on more than one and two occasions. Now, in addition to working on imagination, creativity, improving spelling, writing and reading comprehension, there is also the need to connect generations.

And there is nothing like a good story to re-share what our grandparents have and what we also have. And, as an example, we bring you the endearing story of a grandfather and his granddaughter from Malaga, authors of a collection of stories that promises to unite both generations. We anticipate that the first title has already sold out in its province and promises to become a great gift for this Christmas.

Specifically, we are talking about Antonio Montoro and Miara Campos, 70 and 9 years old respectively. And the first title of the collection 'Mía y el grandad', “The kidnapping of Mía's voice”, which was the best-selling book at the Malaga Book Fair, which was held just two weeks ago.

Antonio himself, a member of the Malaga Writers Collective, was in charge of talking about the final objective of the collection. He has done so, as we indicated previously, in statements to Europa Press, to whom he has assured that these stories are written from the love between him and his granddaughter and that with them they aim to enhance the imagination of the little ones, in addition to transmitting the riches of intergenerational literary production.

Where do the stories come from?

One of the curiosities that this collection of stories brings us is that all the titles are based on real events that Antonio and his granddaughter have experienced over the years. For example, this first installment was created between the two of them after the grandfather put in all his efforts to make a few days of hoarseness easier for Mía: “it was an adventure in search of her voice,” she assured Europa Press. In addition, he has reported that they also created a lot of drawings together to illustrate the story, although when it came time to launch it they decided to opt for the professional illustrations of Carmen Larios.

The authors have confirmed that there are already two more titles pending publication and that, like this one, they are also based on real comics that have been taking place within the family.

Stories that take shape thanks to the help of the publishing house Ediciones del Genal and Librerías Proteo Prometeo.

Intergenerational education, an unpolished wealth

And it is not the first time that we talk about the benefits of this type of education, which connects the knowledge of our elders with the infinite curiosity and desire to learn of the little ones in the house. Thus, it has been scientifically demonstrated an improvement in the self-esteem and mood of older people who participate in some type of program of this style.

In fact, Antoniono rules out bringing stories to schools so that all students can discover the richness of communicating with their grandparents and elders.
