Baby Einstein is a Walt Disney brand that has different products. Among them, the lines of DVDs and other multimedia content for children of various ages.
However, it is not only this that the brand has, but they are also specialized in toys, etc. and, in general, any other object whose buyers are parents of small children and even babies.
Being from Disney, this brand has been very popular among parents. In fact, a television series for preschool children has also emerged. The series aired on Playhouse Disney.
Baby Einstein Products
The brand has quite a few products, but the most recent ones - in terms of DVDs - are from 2010. Specifically, it is the Discovery Kits or Discovery Kits collection that includes some of the best-known ones such as Baby Beethoven or Baby Mozart.
There is also World of Colors, World of Words or World of Rhythm (World of Colors-World of Words-World of Rhythm, respectively).
The first collection came out in 1997, with Baby Einstein, although there is also Baby Mozart- Music Festival or Baby Shakespeare-World of colors.
On their website, as we have mentioned before, you can see different products that are not DVDs.
The various controversies about the products
Baby Einstein is very popular among parents, because the multimedia content was considered educational, however, there have been various controversies regarding it.
In May 2006, the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Chilhood complained about Baby Einstein. The first complaint he alleged was misleading or false advertising since the videos were said to be educational, however, various scientific studies denied this. In fact, many parents bought Baby Einstein videos with this intention.
The problem was solved with a Baby Einstein campaign that ended up returning the money for the DVDs to those who claimed it, so that the money would be refunded for up to four per family.
The study that said the videos were not educational was revealed by the journal Psychological Science. They were with children who watched the Baby Einstein series and the study concluded by saying that the children who were with Baby Einstein for a month "did not show greater understanding of the words in the program than children who never watched it."
In fact, the study showed that children who were taught by their parents learned more and better.
Children can't be glued to the television
Another complaint about Baby Einstein was that children should stay away from television at least until they are two years old. However, the brand has had products practically since they were just born. On the other hand, they forced the design of the website to change, eliminating testimonials that in theory were real from people who had tried the products.
