Most women when they are pregnant want to have memories of those moments. Before, it was done using photographs, then videos were recorded, but now the two can be combined: a video made with photographs or, what we are going to tell you, a time-lapse.
A time-lapse is a photography technique that shows us different moments that are normally imperceptible to the eye. Once the image has been captured, what it comes down to is putting it into fast motion to see the movement and change.
It can be done with a video, playing it in fast motion, or you can also take different photographs of what is apparently the same thing, and then edit them with a video layout program and play them in fast motion and now be able to see the movement, the change, etc.
We tell you how to do a pregnancy time-lapse:
What do we need?
- A photography camera. The best would be a high quality camera, but if we don't have one we can do it with a cell phone.
- Clothes that we know will be useful during the 9 months of pregnancy, for example, sportswear, a top, etc...
- A program to edit videos.
- If we have it or can easily have it, a tripod would be ideal, to ensure that the photo turns out exactly the same during all shots.
Hands on the camera!
To start making our pregnancy time-lapse, it is important that we photograph as many weeks as possible. Obviously, we cannot include the first weeks in our video for two reasons: the first is that we still do not know that we are pregnant and, second, the belly cannot be seen.
We can put a photo of the moment when it still doesn't look like we have a pregnant belly. From there, the best thing we can do is take one photo a week.
For this it is important:
- Do it in the same place, for example in our room, in front of the baby's crib, etc.
- The best position is in profile, because that is when the pregnant belly is most noticeable and we can see the changes most clearly.
- The clothing, if possible, we have to try to keep it the same during all the photographs.
- If we can, we also have to try to make the hair the same.
- Finally, the exposed belly, so that our time lapse is more visual.
All this is important so that the photograph always looks the same, but only the size of the belly changes.
The assembly
Once we have the photographs taken, we only need a program to edit videos. There are different types of difficulty. One of the simplest that would be useful for this type of assembly is Windows Movie Maker, which is also normally installed on the computer and, if not, we can download it for free.
To do this you just have to put the sequence of images and play with the speeds at which they pass to see which one we like the most. This is done by choosing the duration we want each image to have and it is very simple.
Once we have the images and the speed selected, we can add music, credits, texts in which we put, for example, what week of pregnancy we are in, etc.
