A mother's love is... 2026

Little one, I look at you in your arms, I perceive the indescribable peace that all your pores overflow and I think...Will you remember this when we are no longer so essential to you?

At this exact moment, you sleep peacefully cradled in the chest of the person who would give anything, his entire existence, to spare you a second of suffering.

And yes, I know it's impossible. I know that suffering, pain, fear, are part of a person's life. But if human beings are not prepared for something, it is to see their children suffer.

While I feel you breathing in rhythm with your hearts, dreaming in different but inseparable worlds, I have decided to write this to you.

I have decided to write to you to talk to you about her, in case one day you forget how much we love you, or in case when time passes, I don't know how to describe to you clearly enough everything she gave you, everything we loved you. Because we all, at some point, forget what our mother and father have done for us.

She, the person who hugs you now, was the one who felt your call, you know? He told me, and we decided that we would wait for you with open arms.

She wanted you with all her soul, she waited for you and despaired wondering if you wouldn't finally want to come with us. We looked for you and learned to be patient. And one day, we cried and hugged each other when we finally knew you were there.

She took care of herself throughout the pregnancy so that you grew up as healthy as possible. He loved you from the first moment, but I'm sure you already know that. She talked to you, sang, caressed you through her belly, and proudly accepted the changes that pregnancy brought about. Because they were for you.

When the time came, she showed that a mother has enormous strength, and as if she were a goddess, she stirred the universe, accepted the changes, the most intense sensations that can be described, so that you would finally arrive and she could hug you.

You were here once. It changed life so much that it never looked like the one we had had before. She fed you from her breasts whenever you needed it. He nourished you with love every second. He had to sacrifice parties, showers for pleasure, eating quietly, watching movies, reading whenever he wanted.

She had to listen to a million opinions she didn't ask for about how to raise you, about how to love you. He had to endure the doubts and pressure of a society that thinks someone can know a child better than a mother. And you know what? He doubted everything except that he loved you like he had never been able to imagine loving anyone.

Did he ever despair? Of course. She despaired because it is not easy to accept that your life changes radically, but even so, at all times she continued to give you the best of herself, and believe me, the best of her is a gift from heaven, it is luck made soul and flesh. And that desperation did not last longer than it took you to look at her with your beautiful and noble eyes.

She was and is sleepy. He never slept the same again. Because in his mind you are always and always will be. But I wouldn't have exchanged that space that I keep in my thoughts for you for a million naps, nights and dreams. She wrapped you in her arms every time you needed her, investing time that she couldn't dedicate to taking care of herself, getting ready or looking as splendid as the mothers on TV. And yet, I have always seen her as the most beautiful in the world.

She and I stopped being able to dedicate the time we used to, to give each other all the kisses we gave each other, to sleep in each other's arms without worry, to have dinners and parties that ended in ecstasy. She and I miss each other. But we know that this stage will end, and that if we take care of ourselves day by day, despite the lack of time, we have in you an eternal bond of union, our love for you does not expire, and the admiration that seeing how she cares for you gives me makes me love her more every day.

I am also part of this story, of course. I take care of you and pamper you as much as I can, every second of my time.

But today I wanted to talk to you about her, because in her mother's gaze I have learned what true love is. I have learned what it is to believe, to parent, to grow. Because it is assumed that it is her obligation, but she could have done much worse, she could have shown less interest, just because a mother is a mother does not take away the merit of dedicating your time and until your last breath for a person. She chose to love you and give everything, and your eyes shine because you carry that gift with you forever.

I have never found a more beautiful definition of what it is to love.

Loving is you.

Therefore, little one, when you can read this, you will at least consciously remember what your heart and your body already know and feel, that your mother loved you madly, that she gave everything for you.

Therefore, if one day you forget or doubt why your mother does what she does, if it is for your good, and despite the mistakes we may make, here will be a record of something that will never change:

She will always love you more than anyone in this world.
