The letter that certifies the Tooth Fairy that a child lost his tooth 2026

Santiago is a seven-year-old student at a primary school in Montevideo (Uruguay). Like all children of this age, they look forward to meeting the Tooth Fairy or, at least, knowing that he has visited them while they sleep.

Santiago's baby tooth fell out at school and he told his teacher. After the big news, the two decided to go to the school bathroom to wash the tooth so that Little Mouse would find it shiny when he went to visit him, with such bad luck that it slipped through his fingers and fell down the drain.

The little boy was so devastated that he asked his teacher to please break the pipes so he could recover his baby tooth: without it he would not know the little mouse. But their teacher, Ana María Méndez, came up with a much better idea: they would write a letter to the Ratoncito Pérez in which it was written and justified that he had lost his tooth, so that he would not take it into account when leaving the gift. In it he put these words:

“It is recorded that the student Santiago Díaz lost a tooth and when he went to the bathroom to wash it, it was lost in the pipe, with the Principal Ana María Méndez witnessing its existence.

This certificate is issued for the purposes of giving testimony before Mr. Ratón Pérez since Santiago will leave this note as evidence under his pillow tonight.”

The letter has already gone viral through Facebook thanks to Santiago's father sharing it on his account.

This gesture is another demonstration of how maintaining enthusiasm in children can be a fantastic and perfect idea for their development. Keeping the fantasy alive in the little ones: it is the protagonist of their future personality.

When they begin to realize the truth, when they begin to ask us too many questions, it is advisable to tell them the truth in a planned way and always making them see that we have not lied to them: we were only preserving their illusion.
