Yoga Poses for Kids: Tree Pose 2026

More and more parents are deciding to enroll their children in yoga and we are not surprised, since it is a discipline with countless physical and psychological benefits for both adults and children. The little ones enjoy practicing yoga because, in addition to being a fun and entertaining activity, they relax and obtain such gratifying benefits as channeling energy, improving their self-esteem, learning to concentrate, developing balance and working on something as important as self-knowledge. The practice of yoga in children is recommended from 3 or 4 years old and is a perfect discipline to be carried out until adulthood, adapting the exercises and postures to each level and age. Obviously, a yoga class for adults is different from one aimed at children, since the one for the little ones usually mixes games, songs and a lot of imagination, all with the purpose of capturing their attention and getting them hooked on the activity.

The practice of yoga in children is beneficial for both the most restless little ones and for calm or rather shy children, since it is a perfect activity to promote relaxation, but also to learn to lose fears and improve contact with others. Other benefits of practicing yoga in children are that they gain strength, improve coordination and flexibility, learn self-control and promote the proper functioning of all body systems.

Another advantage of yoga is that parents can practice it with our children, thus improving and strengthening the bond and union with them.

For all these reasons, centers specialized in yoga for children are becoming very popular, as is the case of the health and beauty center Espacio Físico (Avda. del Mediterráneo, 9 Madrid) where they teach this type of yoga classes. Jennifer Romero, from Espacio Físico, shows us how to do the tree pose.

How to do tree pose with children

To do this yoga posture, we must raise our arms above the body and then we must bend our right leg, resting it on the knee of the opposite leg, and maintain the posture for a few seconds. Then, we stretch high and join our hands above our heads. Next, we slowly lower our arms, stretched to the sides, and we also slowly lower our leg to the ground, placing ourselves in the starting position. During the descent it is possible that you lose your balance a little, but it is not a problem, so it should not be given importance.

The objective of tree pose is to work on balance, a skill that is very important as it helps us stay focused and strong.

An advantage of yoga lasasanas is that many of them have names of animals or objects that, for children, are easily recognizable, so understanding how the exercise should be done is easier for them. Everyone practice!
