Abriles, Melendi's second daughter with Julia Nakamatsuy, was born last February. The little girl has increased the family's happiness, but she has also come with new lessons about motherhood and fatherhood.
It was the Argentine who wanted to share with her followers the scare they had with the little girl, explaining a situation that is more common than it seems and, however, little known by many parents: the girl has suffered from “tourniquet syndrome.” This pathology occurs when hair or hair accidentally gets tangled in a baby's appendage and causes strangulation, preventing blood circulation. The child does not have the capacity to remove it and, if adults do not realize it, it can lead to situations as serious as amputation. The most common thing is for this to happen on the toes, but it can also happen on the hands or even the penis.
As Nakamatsu shared on her Instagram account, the little girl began to cry inconsolably and they couldn't find the reason for her crying: "We tried everything thinking it was hunger or some stomach upset, but when we changed her diaper we realized that a hair was cutting off her circulation," the distraught mother explained. In this way, they realized that the girl had hair tangled around several toes and prevented blood from circulating, causing her great pain.
Fortunately, everything ended in a scare and the pediatrician who evaluated Abril stated that she was fine and that they would only need to massage the baby's fingers, without applying pressure, so that they would return to normal little by little.
Nakamastsu wanted to share this experience in case it helps other parents and has advised: “if you can't find the reason why your baby won't stop crying... look at his little toes!”
Tourniquet syndrome occurs more frequently than we think, so it is important to check children's extremities (without forgetting that this syndrome can also occur in the penis) and go to the doctor as soon as possible if we notice that a hair has become tangled and has caused an injury to our little ones.
