The best DIY gifts for Father's Day 2026

There is nothing more traditional than crafts made by children to surprise their parents on both Father's Day and Mother's Day. Nothing would be the same without the traditional gifts that children bring from school and daycare, however, more and more children also want to make their own gift for dad from home. From Milbby, the largest craft store in Spain, they offer us 8 very original ideas to surprise dad. In addition, all the materials to make them can be found in this store: colored sand, watercolors, paints, canvases, textiles, home decor, knitting, baking and countless more. We must not forget the value of crafts: craft hobbies are back to stay and are an excellent way to spend time with the family: when children are young they need the help of adults to make these crafts, which makes it easier for us to spend time with them and enjoy a fun time, not only for them, but also for adults. The crafts are suitable for all ages and, furthermore, you don't need to be a handyman, you just have to have a little imagination. Each person sets the limit. For children it is a very special gift since nothing motivates more than making a gift for dad with your own hands. A very special gift that you can use every day.

Crafts allow children to work and develop their imagination, creativity, concentration and ingenuity, in addition to being a good vehicle to channel energy, distract themselves and relax. The most important thing when we do crafts with children is to let them take the initiative and not limit their creative capacity: we must guide them, help them with tasks that they cannot do or that pose a risk, such as cutting out or using certain materials, but the gift is theirs, they must have their personal stamp. Don't miss these proposals!

Decoration with colored sand

Sand decoration is a very original technique. Just as with pencils for drawing, there are sands of all colors at our disposal with which we can impregnate all types of supports: paper, utensils, furniture... In this case we have chosen a photo frame for dad. And, in addition, we have attached a very special message with wooden letters: I love you dad.

Exploding Box

It is a gift that is very exciting because it is a complete surprise. A decorated box, hand-painted or made with printed papers, which when you remove the lid allows the four walls to fall in a cross, showing the entire interior decorated for the occasion, full of drawings, stickers, cutouts or anything you want to include. And, of course, you can't miss the photos with dad.

Decorating with eva rubber

Eva rubber is undoubtedly one of the materials preferred by the little ones. It allows you to create any type of drawing, figure or surface. Another good proposal is to decorate a pencil jar, very useful for dad either at home or at work. In addition to decorating the entire surface, you can make a doll or a car or whatever we like the most to include and glue. At Milbby we will also find kits prepared with all the necessary material and instructions so you can assemble the doll, character or car that you want to make for dad.

wooden keychain

Another support that we can choose to decorate and thus make the best handmade gift for dad is wood. In this case we have added a ring to make an original keychain with a message that dad will fall in love with. In addition to decorating the wood, we can stick other types of material on it such as EVA foam itself, stickers, glitter or whatever you can think of. The only limit is your imagination!

Mini memory album

A most original gift is a mini memory album for dad. We must think about the color and with different materials such as decorated papers, stickers, stamps to stamp, cardboard and all kinds of accessories that we want to put we can make this mini album. Once we have it we can print our favorite family photos and include them for Dad. Without a doubt, this very original handmade gift will be a success. In addition, it can be decorated however we like, with motifs of dad's hobbies, with stickers, with drawings, with special paper or with more photographs and cutouts.

Portfolios

A portfolio is a great souvenir. This one with the word “dad” can be decorated, painted and add the photos we want. In addition, it can also be purchased with the included paints and brushes to do all the work quickly and efficiently. A gift that you can display anywhere with family photos.

Creative baking for dad

Does dad like sweets? If it is decorated by your children much more. Creative baking is having a good time and the little ones in the house will love being able to prepare a muffin or cookie with mom and then decorate it. We can write a message for dad on top, draw a heart or any motif that we know he will love. But if we are also patient we can even decorate it with dad's face. Without a doubt a very sweet gift for Father's Day. Use fondant to create dad's face.

textile decoration

Finally, another very original proposal to give dad is textile decoration. T-shirts, ties or accessories like the one we propose here: a bag to carry everything dad needs. For this special gift we will only need the support (we can find it in Milbby), a template or stencil and special paint for textiles. We draw, write messages or decorate with motifs that we want to surprise dad with. If the little one is too small to draw, we can try leaving their hand or foot prints marked. If the artists at home are older, let them write messages or capture their favorite drawings.
