Midwifery classes for babies: stimulation in the water 2026

More and more parents are enrolling their babies in midwifery swimming courses due to their enormous benefits. Most of the courses are extracurricular but Early Childhood Education Centers are beginning to appear that include these activities not only as extracurricular activities but also within their schedule with specialized instructors. Adapted swimming pool, integrated baby changing tables, adapted baby showers and many other features should comprise the midwifery facilities.

Among its main benefits is the increase in motor capacity, toning, coordination and complicity with parents.

Midwifery swimming, also known as baby swimming, is aquatic stimulation at an early age through games and activities. Almost without realizing it, the baby begins to relate to the aquatic environment and strengthen the emotional bond with his companion, be it the mother or father.

Midwifery swimming classes last one hour. At first, it is an approach to the water, where the important thing is to do work with the little one in the water, such as catching balls, hugging mom or dad, splashing...

With time and the maturity of the little ones, the instructors will introduce more complex exercises such as holding the curb on their own, jumping from the curb, moving with churros, diving...

“The ultimate goal of taking the little ones to swim should not be for them to go out swimming but for them to learn to relate to water and not be afraid of it,” explains CEI Monkey.

Midwifery swimming is in fashion, not only is it a way to have a great time with the little ones, it also has multiple associated benefits: it increases the baby's security by losing the fear of water, it acquires notions of movement and distance, greater sensitivity to its own movements and ultimately greater motor coordination, strengthens emotional bonds with parents, tones muscles... and last but almost most important, it is a super fun activity

Mini showers

So that they gradually get used to the temperature of the water, the mothers wet them with a small watering can. A very pleasant sensation that tickles them.

Pair swimming

The mother stays afloat by sitting on a pair of churros (flexible foam bars). Meanwhile, hold the baby by the armpits and gently move him from side to side. This exercise strengthens the muscles in your child's legs and neck.

Replenishing strength

After soaking for a while, the babies stop on a padded board. They rest on it, but they also have to maintain their balance because the board moves with the movement of the water. This exercise strengthens your hips.

aquatic nap

If the room temperature allows it, it won't hurt the baby to spend a few minutes lying on a board (many fall asleep) floating in the water. Meanwhile, mom walks him around the pool and takes the opportunity to whisper sweethearts to him: he will love it.

Even more difficult

They can crawl on the floating board almost as safely as if they were moving on dry land. Another option is to slide into the water on a slide. When entering it they will be completely submerged, but thanks to the sleeves they will immediately rise to the surface

Meeting of athletes

Even if they are with mom, teaching in a group favors socialization with other swimmers. Clad in their bathrobes, the little ones rest from their fun but tiring aquatic activity.
