Vegetable ice creams for children allergic to lactose 2026

For most people, summer is synonymous with sun, vacations, long meals, naps... and ice cream. There are those who have to remove this last element from the equation because they have not yet found a flavor that completely convinces them, there are those who restrict its consumption for health reasons and there are those who are directly prohibited from it because they are allergic to the usual ingredients with which they are made, such as, for example, milk. But, for all of them there is a solution.

For the first group of people, our recommendation is to open your mind to the endless proposals on the market because you will surely end up finding the one that makes your mouth water; for the second, that it is not a valid excuse because there are more and more healthy options that you can even prepare yourself at home; and for the third group, do not miss any detail of this text because those allergic to lactose have many equally delicious alternatives.

To buy

Although the strongest are the traditional brands with their ice creams that have been passed down from generation to generation, there are many other labels that have been bringing interesting alternatives for years not only for their flavors but also for the way in which they are made. Abbot Kinney's, for example, is a brand of organic vegan yogurts and ice creams that are lactose-free, gluten-free and soy-free, which are really delicious. They are made with coconut milk as the main element and although there are some with passion fruit, vanilla or strawberry, the ones preferred by the little ones are surely the stick versions with almond chocolate coating or even the double chocolate ones.

Alpro also has a wide variety - hazelnuts and chocolate, caramelized almond, Madagascar vanilla, caramel, etc. - with soy as a driving element; And, in addition, supermarkets such as Mercadona, Lidl or Aldiya have long included among their own brands ice creams based on vegetable drinks such as soy or oatmeal in different flavors that are worth giving a try.

To do at home

If you prefer to prepare ice cream at home directly, you can also make delicious combinations with very few ingredients and with highly tasty results. Instead of milk, which is usually the norm in these desserts, use bananas that you have previously chopped and frozen as a base and mix them with other fruits such as raspberries, strawberries, mango or blueberries, for example; or directly with cocoa powder if you want a quick and easy ice cream that you can eat right then and there.

You can also use vegetable drinks such as oatmeal or almond or use the cream from a can of coconut milk to give it a more special consistency mixed with some nut, vanilla or fruit cream.

Lastly, you can also try making popsicles based on orange juice and adding small pieces of cut fruit. Place everything together in the mold with a stick, leave it in the freezer for at least six hours and you will have a snack that is as healthy as it is refreshing.

It's just a matter of trying until you find the mix that you like the most.
