What was that? The first time it's just a tender tickle and the initial astonishment is soon followed by certainty: 'My baby is moving!' For every future mother, feeling the baby for the first time is an incredible moment, because she suddenly experiences in a completely direct way that a small being lives and grows in her womb.
What personality will your baby have?
Although fetal development is similar in all children, during pregnancy each baby moves differently. Does the fact that your son kicks very hard mean that he is going to have a strong temper? If his kicks are like tender caresses, are you in for a gentle baby? It is not so easy, since aspects such as socialization, family, friends or education play a fundamental role in the development of personality.
However, when a pregnant woman feels her child's movements, she gets an idea of what she may be like when she is born. A little beast or a calm one? Curious and active or a serene baby who prefers to suck his thumb quietly?
In the end, the baby's movement is the only point of reference about the character that could be hiding in your belly. Maybe the baby you are expecting looks like one of these:
Rambo
Many children are very active from before they are born: they constantly step on and push their mother, and they can even cause pain. Perhaps the child really is a little “war veteran” and will continue to be so when he enters the world. But it is also possible that a restless baby in its mother's womb becomes at birth the most peaceful infant of all time. There is no regularity in the phenomenon.
Often, the activity of the fetus is not so much an expression of its character as a reaction to the mother's lifestyle. Maybe you have just had an argument with your partner or you are very busy at work. Scientists have discovered that a strong adrenaline rush has effects on the fetus, because this stress hormone reaches the umbilical cord directly to the child. The consequence: the little one spins in the belly.
The sensitive
Many children react in their mother's womb in an extremely sensitive way to environmental influences. The baby may disappear for hours, or even for a whole day, in the rearmost corner of the womb and not move. Maybe the rock concert was too loud for you or your mother's mood has gotten to you, crying over the death of a loved one, for example.
Many medical tests show how fine the "antennae" of the fetus are. It has even been proven that you can influence their activity with low-volume music. Most babies calm down with slow, harmonious music and their movement and heart rate even slow down, which demonstrates their sensitivity to certain external stimuli.
For you, a future mother, it is important to carefully follow what is happening in your belly. Trust your intuition and find out why your baby doesn't feel like moving now, it may be due to completely harmless reasons. In a few cases, however, there may be a serious reason, such as a malformation or an insufficient supply of oxygen or nutrients to the child. At the first negative intuition, go to the doctor as soon as possible.
The big head
Many babies already show their insistence on fulfilling their own desires during pregnancy. For example, they are very alert when the mother lies tired in bed and... goodbye to sleep! On the contrary, they don't make the slightest movement when you want to show your best friend or the future dad their kicks.
However, these 'acts of rebellion' do not have to be indicative of a stubborn child. For example, scientists have found a plausible explanation for nocturnal activity: all fetuses enjoy, between 9 p.m. and midnight, a phase of wakefulness linked, apparently, to the mother's production of cortisone. This hormone increases the mother's sleep, but wakes up the child. So don't be surprised if the child plays non-stop while the mother tries to fall asleep.
Establish contact with your baby!
Whatever your baby is like, if you take a little time every day to pay attention to your tummy, feel your child silent and calm, pay attention to his movements and follow your intuition, you will have the opportunity to get to know him a little better before he is born.
