Carlos, the fourteen-year-old boy admitted to study Biomedical Engineering at the university 2026

Yes, you read correctly: he is only 14 years old, but he has been admitted to the Anáhuac Mayab University of Yucatán in Mexico to study a bachelor's degree. And it is nothing more nor less than Biomedical Engineering.

Carlos Santamaría Díaz is a young Mexican who is known for being a true genius for his high cognitive abilities. And, if in itself it is a quite surprising and peculiar fact for a child of his age, the reality is that this is not the beginning of his journey.

Thanks to a letter game that was given to him for Christmas, at the age of 3 he learned to read. Since then he has been gradually improving his qualities to make the most of his potential.

In his academic record he already has several important achievements: a Diploma in Analytical Chemistry - which he obtained when he was 9 years old - and a Diploma in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Faculty of Chemistry of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) which he obtained when he was 10.

He also carried out some Higher Algebra studies and was also enrolled in an online education program offered by the European Economic Community in Spain.

In addition to all this, he became the first 12-year-old child to be admitted to the degree in Biomedical Physics, the first university degree he opted for and which he entered at the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

However, after a few semesters at this study center, he assured that he was a victim of bullying, since teachers at that center unfairly graded him and even told him that he did not deserve to be there, calling into question the little boy's ability.

This led his father to report the case and that is why now Carlos is going to start a new journey at another university. As we have already mentioned, he will begin his studies at the Anáhuac Mayab University, where he will study Biomedical Engineering and will have a 90% scholarship. Here we can see him talking to another of the UAM students.

He will start the first semester online due to the health circumstances caused by the coronavirus pandemic, although both he and his family plan to move to Mérida (Yucatán) where the boy's new university is located. Without a doubt, he is a very special young man to whom we wish him all the luck on this path.
