Spain is the second largest consumer of canned tuna behind our neighbors, the Italians, and also the second largest producer of canned tuna in the world. That is why, in addition to being a common resource in the pantries of almost all families, we also find it on the market in many varieties from different brands: natural, pickled, in olive oil, in sunflower oil...
Given the variety we find, there are times when we can end up buying a brand that may not have the best quality/price ratio and faced with this dilemma we find ourselves, once again, with a detailed study by the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) from which we extract the fifteen best canned tuna on the current market.
For the OCU, the three best canned tuna on the market are Calvo tuna in sunflower oil, Albo tuna in olive oil and Aliada tuna in sunflower oil.
However, of the three recommended in its "Best Buys" category, for having the best quality-price ratio, we found two within the fifteen best:
- Day light tuna in olive oil: which they highlighted after their analysis for its good taste and appearance and they recommend it for kebabs and salads, where the tuna is appreciated as is.
- Sal de Plata light tuna in sunflower oil (Aldi): stood out for being one of the brands with the highest proportion of fish and for its taste.
In salads, in omelets, with tomatoes, with green beans...tuna is a very useful food that allows us to incorporate it into a wide variety of recipes, therefore, it is important that we try to look at the nutritional label of the canned tuna sold by different brands to try to find the one that is healthiest and most natural. The analysis takes into account factors such as humidity, the amount of salt, freshness and its defects, among other things.
