The helmet
Perhaps the most important and necessary accessory for the children's bicycle. What's more, in many cities it is mandatory for minors, something that seems very important to us.
From a young age, we must instill this habit in them because, in the event of a fall, it will avoid much of the impact of blows to their heads.
Don't forget to choose one that fits your measurements so that it doesn't fit loosely; nor too small, so that the child is not uncomfortable.
A tip: if it itches (it can often happen due to sweat, for example), you can put a headscarf on before wearing the helmet. It will prevent itching and the child from being uncomfortable on their children's bike.
The bell
It is an object for the children's bicycle that many little ones love to carry because it is fun for them to touch. In addition, it will increase your safety since you will always be able to warn of what is going to happen, to avoid last-minute braking or falls. Likewise, the bell will help them feel safer because they can warn and have more self-confidence since, by indicating that they are going, they will know that they are not going to hit anyone.
Additionally, you can customize it to your child's taste, like the one in the photo.
Knee and elbow pads
If you want to increase protection against possible falls on a bicycle, good knee and elbow pads are a great idea, although be careful! It can take away their comfort and mobility and, consequently, they will end up taking them away.
Position light
If you like to ride your bike at any time, even in winter, when the lighting is dimmer, a position light is a good idea. We can put it on the children's bike, but even better, have it integrated into the helmet! They usually have an LED light, although there are several models.
Just turn it on and we will know that, with complete certainty, they will see our children while they ride their bike.
Light to illuminate
It is just as important that they see us, as it is to be able to see ourselves. It is important if we are going out in the afternoon or early in the morning (or even doing night routes) that the children have a light on their bicycle. It will help them see where they are going, avoiding falls or trips - and the occasional scare for parents -.
A chain cover
It is what surrounds the bicycle chain.
For children's bikes, it is advisable that they carry a chain cover to avoid snags, scratches on the legs, etc. It can cover only half of the chain or the entire chain.
Saddle cover
To prevent the butt area from suffering, we can choose to buy a saddle cover. It is very easy to find and the prices are very affordable (we can find it from 5 euros).
Since children do not usually dress in bicycle clothes, many times, for reasons of comfort, with this seat - preferably made of gel - we will prevent their butt or groin from hurting since bicycle saddles are normally quite hard.
Gloves
We finish our safety accessory kit for the children's bicycle with some gloves. They will protect them from possible injuries or scratches caused by the handlebars (since many are made of rubber). In addition, if they fall, they will prevent scratches.
