The bladder already reacts to pregnancy before you notice your stomach. It fills up pretty quickly. Progesterone especially affects the sphincters of the bladder. This hormone is actually designed for the uterine muscle, its function is to calm it so that the baby grows without being disturbed. But unfortunately progesterone spreads throughout the body, and that is why the sphincters stop working perfectly. And if the uterus also pushes, there is only one solution: always have a bathroom nearby.
Midwife's trick: when urinating, lift your belly a little so that the bladder empties completely. And keep in mind that you have to drink a lot, even though you constantly have to go to the bathroom, for circulation to be good.
the heart
The heart must now pump about one and a half more liters of blood. As far as space is concerned, it will be more or less okay: it is protected by the thorax, even at the end of pregnancy the uterus cannot reach it. However, you often feel palpitations and have an empty feeling in your chest. This is because often not enough oxygen reaches the lungs and the heart beats faster so that despite this the baby always has a good supply of oxygen.
Movement helps the heart pump. During these weeks, it is especially recommended to go for a walk, walk upright, or swim. When you feel palpitations, lie down for a while, with your upper body and legs elevated. This way, the placenta will be well irrigated and your heart will be able to work more slowly again.
the stomach
From week 34, when the baby gains about 200 grams week by week, your stomach will only be able to assimilate around half the amount of normal food, even if you have a good appetite. This organ is located in the worst place and has to fit right where the highest point of the uterus is located. Due to the pressure coming from below, the cardia sphincter opens more easily and gastric acid rises into the esophagus, causing heartburn.
The best advice from all midwives: divide meals into five a day. This way you will never be ravenously hungry or frustrated. Vegetable creams and purees with cheese are especially recommended, because they fill you up and do no harm.
the liver
The liver is one of the most important organs for metabolism, since it takes from food what you and your baby need. In addition, it is responsible for retaining harmful substances and eliminating them. As it is made of flexible fabrics, it can make room for the baby, shrinking and working at full speed.
Make things easier for the liver and don't eat too much fat, because it will have to work hard to break down the large molecules of these food substances. Talk to your doctor if you feel severe itching all over your body, as something may be happening to your stressed liver. To solve it there are medications.
the lungs
Now your lungs can take in 25 percent less air. Both are pressed by their bottom. This makes you out of breath not only when walking up the stairs, but also when drying off after a shower. From week 36 onwards, the pressure eases day after day, because the baby's head sinks into the pelvis and leaves more free space above.
When you pant you automatically breathe through your mouth. Try, at least once in every two breaths, to inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth, so that all the air comes out. This way more fresh air will enter again.
the intestine
It happens to the intestine like the bladder, it feels the effects of progesterone, which is not designed for it. The consequence is laziness. And added to this is the lack of space. Therefore, it is not surprising that at the end of pregnancy some women do not respond well. And constipation is especially uncomfortable now, because you already feel full.
Drink plenty of water, move at least a little and eat healthy during pregnancy.
