Games to stimulate the development of children's creativity 2026

Creativity is an abstract process through which we are able to “visualize” a problem with the mind and from it, originate, invent or create a new idea to solve it.

We are all creative, but creativity, like any other capacity, can be developed from childhood, with activities and games specifically designed for it, and it is very important to help children to be more creative, since people whose divergent thinking is more developed are people with positive self-esteem, who have more self-confidence, developed perception, great intuitive capacity, great imagination, great enthusiasm, great intellectual curiosity and great positivity.

Creativity is, therefore, a way of approaching life. And, so that you can stimulate their development with your sons and daughters, we leave you a small list of recreational activities with which they will also have a great time.

4 games to stimulate your creativity

We are inventors. The game is simply about inventing. Let the children choose a character (it could be a pirate, a princess...) and from there, invite them to invent stories (give them 2 or 3 words with no apparent relation to what story comes up), songs, new objects with specific and unconventional uses using recycling materials or things you have at home (for example, the mop can serve as a wig, a steering wheel plate, etc.). Give us the air.  We advise you to take advantage of any occasion to go out with your children and enjoy the natural elements that you have the possibility of. A visit to the forest, to the beach, to a park, to the countryside, to the city... will provide many opportunities for children to interact with the various elements of the environment through their senses (see, listen, touch, smell and taste). In addition to the possibilities of working on diverse areas of knowledge: we read posters, count flowers, classify shells from the beach, etc...

What is it called? This activity will improve your language and awaken your ingenuity. Starting from the narration of a story, we can ask them about the characters, inviting them to change their names, to invent other roles for them, to say what objects they could carry with them, to invent other different stories... And, as for the objects, we can invite them to think about different names, different uses, who can use them, etc.

Who am I today? A walk can be creative and fun if you propose a game in which they try different ways of walking: like a robot, like a grandfather, like an orangutan, like a mother in a hurry, like a baby, like a cat, etc. The same can be done with speaking styles (an American foreigner, a teacher in class, a shyer child, etc.)

Incredible animals. We will encourage children to invent fantastic animals, enhancing their imagination. Using images or photographs of animals, they can design new animals, giving them names, and explaining things about them, where they live, what they eat, what they look like, etc...
