Respect your rhythm

Children usually begin to develop the ability to climb from the first year, even without knowing how to walk first.

Experts in child psychomotor skills say that the more time a child spends on the ground, the sooner he or she will learn to climb. A baby who is always lying down or sitting in the chair takes longer to learn to sit up, crawl, and walk on his own.

On the other hand, if the baby is forced to stand or walk when he is not yet ready, his development can be delayed.

Facilitate climbing

What to do when the child insists over and over again on getting on the beanbag in the living room? Well, let him try it alone, as long as the place is safe and we are watching him. Children learn by repeating the same action.

When you reach the top, another very interesting challenge arises: going down. You will surely come to the conclusion that it is better to go back the way you came up. Let us not fear: babies are small, but they are not stupid. Our son will not jump to the ground and, if he does not see the possibility of getting down safely, he will cry for us to help him.

When he manages to complete the entire route alone, he will have acquired a new skill that will give him great satisfaction and make him more self-sufficient.

You have to motivate him

Whether or not the little one starts climbing depends on his own evolution, but also on the attitude of his parents.

If we are too protective and every time the child tries to climb we send him negative messages such as: "Be careful! Don't climb there! You're going to fall!" he will feel scared and insecure and will probably end up falling.

It is much more positive to encourage him and enhance his desire to play and move, letting him know that mom and dad will always be by his side so that nothing bad happens to him.

Respect the spaces

From birth, the child begins global learning to adapt to the world in which the education of his or her parents and caregivers is decisive.

That is why from a very young age it is advisable to teach him what is right and what is wrong, to set limits, even if it is difficult for him to understand at first.

Although he needs to run, climb and explore, it is also a good idea to teach him to respect spaces.

For example, we can tell him that he can play freely in his room, in the hallway, and even, if it suits us, in the living room (once adapted), but that he cannot enter the bathroom, his brothers' study room or the kitchen. This way we kill two birds with one stone: we teach them to respect the spaces of others and avoid possible dangers.
