Although stores are becoming more aware of eliminating gender differentiation from their collections (both children and adults), it is still more than evident. Above all, because we continue (and will continue to see for a long time) the girl's section and the boy's section.
Eliza Brichto, a 7-year-old British girl, has decided to stand up against this and take her voice. To do this, she decided to write to Zara explaining her case: she loves boys' clothes (she always buys children's clothes at Zara Kids) and she doesn't understand why girls can't appear in boys' photos. That is why he has offered himself to the Inditex giant as a male model asking that, although it may seem strange, they accept his request. The letter, written in his own handwriting, was shared by his mother on her Facebook account and this is the literal translation:
“Dear Zara:
My name is Eliza and I am seven years old. I am writing to you because I would like to be a Zara Boys model. You may think that it is quite strange for a girl to wear boy's clothes, but I want to tell you my story. When I was four years old, I looked at Zara Girls clothes and didn't like them, but I looked at the clothes as a child and I loved them. Now, Zara Boys is the only place I go shopping.
“I am your number one fan so please accept my request to be a Zara Boys model.”
Her mother gave an interview to the British newspaper The Independent in which she explained that her daughter intends to serve as an example to other girls who also like to dress as a boy. Furthermore, she states that her little girl has always been very sure of what she likes and what she doesn't like and that she has never been interested in following the crowd.
Far from imagining it, the letter reached Zara and the Inditex giant responded to the little girl through Facebook. As the little girl's mother has stated through the social network, Zara has invited them to its headquarters in Spain to visit it, meet the designers and be able to chat with them about their menu. Plus, they're coming in a week!
