This child's attitude towards returning to school from home has gone around the world 2026

Many months after the coronavirus pandemic forced us all to lock ourselves in our homes and use new ways of learning for the little ones, some boys and girls are returning to the classrooms. But, the uncertainty and the virus are still there, which has made many other families make the decision to opt for distance and non-face-to-face education, at least until they see the light at the end of the tunnel.

For them, the new normal is going to school from home. And, although the family members they live with do their best to make it as enjoyable and fun as possible, the little ones have a hard time adapting and sometimes end up exhausted after so many hours of classes via videoconferences and sitting in front of a computer.

This is what Kara McDowell, a mother who lives in Arizona, USA, wanted to share through a photo she took of her five-year-old son, Graham, and which reflects the flattening of children once their online study day ends. In the image, we see little Graham lying in the chair in front of the computer and tremendously defeated after his virtual class.

Kara uploaded the image to her Twitter profile (@karajmcdowell) and it didn't take long for it to go viral and reach more than 50,000 likes from users who identified with her son's mood.

The famous American program Good Morning America interviewed Kara McDowell a few days ago and given the success of the publication she commented that "everyone thought it was a funny image", in addition, Kara thought that "if you do school at home or are teleworking and you have to make one of these super long video calls, you can totally relate."

He also reported that Graham logs on from eight in the morning and finishes after noon. And, although she has several breaks between school hours, the mother states that it is normal that at these ages it is strange and annoying to see her classmates on the other side of the screen when they are used to playing together.

Patience and motivation

But it is what we have to do in these difficult times and it will be what guarantees a 'normal' future as soon as possible. Kara values the teachers' arduous mission of having to teach children to read through a screen and has no doubt that "they are doing the best they can. We can't complain because they are giving their all."

Given the complexity of the situation, teachers, students, parents and workers from all sectors are doing everything possible to adapt to preventive measures so that healthcare and research professionals can do their work correctly and put an end to the global pandemic. So for the moment, for those parents with children in the same solution, all that remains is to be patient and look for fun activities and games that motivate the children's afternoon after classes.
