The age of our children, and whether or not they know how to swim, will set the pace of the day. Before one year, the little ones play with the grass and bugs, and crawl closer than far. At two years old things change: they explore everything and we will have to be very alert, because they no longer mind jumping headfirst into the water even if they don't know how to swim.
From three years old onwards they will need specialized attention for strong emotions and will not want to get out of the water. In addition, they will insistently demand the collaboration of dad or mom.
Games for those who are afraid of water
- To make them lose their fear of putting their heads in, you can play by throwing water in their faces. At first they won't find it funny, but if they also splash us and we do a lot of theater, they will soon enjoy it.
- There is also “the jellyfish”: they bend forward until their face touches the water and they make little bubbles. They love it.
- Or"the star": they lie face up on the water, hands and feet open, while we hold them safely from below (without removing our hands).
- For those who do not let go of the curb into the water, we stand next to them and invite them to pass around us.
- Throw one of their pool toys in for them to catch. It motivates them quite a bit.
Games in the small pool
- The Witcher: This game is for several children. The witch (adult) has a magic ball (ball). Every time he says a magic word he can touch a child and turn them into a toad, tree or bird. The "touched one" becomes his helper and, when he says the magic word again, he and his helpers touch other children. The last one to be touched wins.
- Shark: Dad is a fish and the children are sharks that chase him to eat him. Or the other way around: dad is the shark, and the little fish run away from him.
- Balloon dance: 4-5 years. A balloon is pierced with a pin, filled with water and tied. We have to spend it trying not to leave it empty or explode in our hands.
